Background
Pólen Fiocruz, a business incubator, invests in innovative ideas to advance education. Among its supported ventures, Bloom EdTech harnessed artificial intelligence and data analytics to identify the most accessed courses and provide students with personalized support.
As the sole designer on the team, I faced the challenge of balancing a tight deadline with a limited initial scope. To address this, I facilitated workshops to align timelines with project objectives, ensuring clarity and efficiency. In a leadership role, I also served as the primary bridge between developers and product owners, streamlining communication for smoother execution.
First drafts
I conducted research, designed workflows, and developed a chatbot prototype to assist students with Fio Cruz courses on public sector innovation.
The MVP focused on two main areas: a student chatbot for answering questions and optimizing study habits, and a teacher dashboard for tracking student engagement and identifying areas for improvement.

User research
To better understand the needs of the education sector in relation to artificial intelligence, we conducted in-depth interviews with professionals from startups and universities focused on education. I took the lead in organizing and conducting 22 interviews, each lasting 60 minutes, carefully recording data for later analysis.
The interview scope included these topics:
Problems: What are the main challenges faced in the current company environment? We gathered both qualitative and quantitative responses. In the education sector, the primary issue is the lack of student interest in studying and schools lacking appropriate technological tools.
Current solutions in the market: According to our findings, most available solutions do not keep up with technological advancements and are therefore not very effective.
Ideal solution: Interviewees expressed the need for technology that enhances student engagement with their studies.
The insights gathered during this phase revealed a clear opportunity to support these institutions with a tailored AI solution that could enhance their educational processes and meet their specific needs.

Prototypes
The prototype was designed with accessibility in mind, using light colors and a friendly, natural language interface.
Usability was improved with color differentiation in chat conversations, making interactions more intuitive. An evaluation metrics system was implemented to gather valuable insights from student feedback, helping to continuously enhance the experience.
Similarly, the dashboard was designed with accessibility at its core, featuring clean, organized screens that prioritized ease of use and user-friendly navigation.
Conclusion
This project successfully blended design, AI, and data analysis to create a solution that addresses the needs of both students and teachers in the education sector. As the sole designer, I took on the challenge of leading research, creating workflows, and developing a chatbot prototype that improved student access to Fiocruz courses on public sector innovation.
The insights from our interviews with educational professionals highlighted key challenges faced by the sector, and the research revealed a clear opportunity to enhance engagement with our AI-powered solution. This project not only provided a practical tool for students and teachers but also created a foundation for future advancements in AI-driven education.
